BRENTFORD see Sheffield Wednesday striker Clinton Morrison, who has joined them on loan for the rest of the season, as the ideal replacement for top scorer Gary Alexander, writes Dom Howson.
Morrison has been allowed to move from Hillsborough after the Owls landed Newcastle striker Nile Ranger - who was a loan arrival along with Burnley winger Keith Treacy.
Alexander scored 14 goals for Brentford before being loaned to Crawley earlier this month and he will join them on a full transfer in the summer.
Brentford sporting director Mark Warburton welcomed the Morrison deal, saying: “It was very important we brought in a player who would add quality to the squad.
“Clinton has bags of experience; he has scored goals at this level and much higher levels.
“We worked hard to find someone who had the attributes we require to see us through to the end of the season. We are confident that in Clinton we have our man.”
Morrison has also had a spell on loan at MK Dons this season.
Ranger replaces him in an Owls pool of four main strikers which also includes Gary Madine, Ryan Lowe and Chris O’Grady.
