OWLS left back Daniel Jones is in contention for his first start in three and a half months.

Julian Bennett and Reda Johnson are still sidelined for Saturday’s showdown with Wycombe - and Jones played for 25 minutes at Brentford last Saturday after Mark Beevers was taken off.

Beevers had conceded a penalty and soon afterwards narrowly avoided being sent off so was withdrawn for his and the team’s good.

Manager Dave Jones will consider the option of using Jones, whose only League start in an injury-hit season came in January at Scunthorpe, where he was carried off and replaced at full back by Beevers.

But the boss will also take into the account Beevers’ useful contribution to recent results and may keep him in the team.

Jones could also ponder the claims of Ryan Lowe for a start up front, and must decide whether or not to give a quick recall to Jermaine Johnson in place of Michail Antonio or Keith Treacy, who scored a goal and made one last Saturday.

The Owls boss has refused to get involved in any hype over Saturday’s match, and stuck to a normal routine this week to keep minds on the job.

The players were in on Monday and Tuesday. Yesterday was the usual day off, and training resumes this afternoon.

Jones welcomed the sell-out of tickets: “It’s fantastic. Hopefully we can deliver on the pitch.”

The Owls will train for a week in Portugal, July 18-25. Details of the pre-season programme have yet to be announced.
