Sheffield Wednesday have signed Sam Hutchinson on a permanent deal.
The 24-year-old has penned a two-year deal at Hillsborough following a successful three month loan spell last season.
Wednesday have seen off strong interest from Millwall and West Bromwich Albion to snap up Hutchinson following his release by Chelsea.
Versatile Hutchinson impressed during a three month loan spell with the Owls last season, making ten appearances.
He can be deployed at centre half, right back or as a defensive midfielder, the position he was most often used in by Wednesday boss Stuart Gray.
Hutchinson became the Owls’ second summer signing after Republic of Ireland international keeper Keiren Westwood joined on a two-year deal on Monday night.
The Owls also announced earlier that goalkeeper Chris Kirkland has signed a new one-year deal.
