Chris Kirkland has signed a new one-year contract with Sheffield Wednesday.
The 33-year-old will now vie for the number one jersey with new signing Keiren Westwood after extending his Hillsborough stay.
Kirkland has become the first of the Owls’ four out-of-contract players to pledge their future to the club.
The former Liverpool keeper joined Wednesday two years ago and has made 83 starts. He was an ever present in the Championship during his first season and was named player of the year.
