Carlos Carvalhal, the Owls boss, is predicting there will be goals galore when his side entertain Queens Park Rangers today.

The Owls welcome the ninth-placed R’s to Hillsborough searching for their fifth victory in seven home league matches this campaign.

Carvalhal said: “It will be a game with goals. QPR are a positive team and like to score goals, as do we. It will be interesting. We will try to do our game and score goals.”

QPR, managed by former Leeds United and Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, are currently on a five-match unbeaten run.

“They are a good side, have some experienced players with good quality,” said Carvalhal, who hopes Keiren Westwood shakes off a back problem which forced him off against Cardiff City in midweek.

“QPR are organised and positive so it will be tough for both teams like all games in the Championship.

“They are a difficult team and are a threat with the way they play. We understand how they play and we will see how we do with the strategy that we prepare. Even with the best strategy, we need the support of our fans.”

Wednesday’s date with QPR rounds off the “hardest week” of the club’s season, according to Carvalhal.

The Portuguese boss, who could restore Steven Fletcher to his starting line-up, said: “We’ve played three games in a short time and against difficult opponents which have made things difficult for us. It will probably be our hardest week.

“It is why I appealed to our fans after the Cardiff game to understand the situation and push our players to the maximum.

“This is the final game of an important week and we need extra energy and I hope that our fans understand that also.

“Our players will be better if they feel the comfort of the fans. We need the fans to push them a lot. They understand our message. They can make a big difference.”
