Sheffield Wednesday have signed Arsenal striker Benik Afobe on loan until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old will be eligible to play on Saturday against Barnsley at Hillsborough and is also available to play in Wednesday’s FA Cup fifth round tie against Charlton on February 15/16.
Afobe has had loan spells with Huddersfield Town, Reading, Bolton Wanderers and Millwall.
Afobe has also received international recognition from England as part of the Under 17 European Championship squad in 2010.
A knee injury ended his loan stint at Millwall last season but he’s now returned to fitness and will challenge for a place in the team for the South Yorkshire derby.
Meanwhile the Owls and Millwall have been charged by the Football Association for failing to ensure their players behaved properly during a melee on Tuesday night at the New Den.
