Scorer Clinton accepts his lot at Wednesday

Blackpool v Sheffield Wednesday.....FA Cup 4th Rd....GOAL...Clinton Morrison celebrates his goal with team-mate Lewis Buxton

CLINTON Morrison sees a role for himself in the Owls’ promotion campaign - though he looks set to be dropped from the starting line-up for tomorrow’s clash with MK Dons.

The striker scored for a much-changed side in Saturday’s 1-1 FA Cup draw at Blackpool but knows that Gary Madine and Chris O’Grady are likely to return. The 32-year-old is ready to bide his time as he looks for a starting role and feels his experience can help younger players develop.

Morrison also feels he was helped by his month on loan at MK Dons: “I was playing well, created chances and got goals. I came back and have accepted cameo roles. The gaffer has praised me. Gaz (Madine) has been on fire this season and Chris O’Grady has been chipping in with goals, Ryan Lowe can get goals as well.

“I like it here and want to get a promotion on my CV. If I don’t play all the time, so be it. I can make an impact and help the other lads come through. If I keep doing well, hopefully my chance will come. The team have been doing well so I don’t expect the manager to change it. I will bide my time.”

Morrison scored three goals for MK Dons, He added: “When you go away to another club you realise how big Sheffield Wednesday is. It helped me at MK Dons. I had a good time, Hopefully I bring some of that form back to Wednesday. It will be a hard game, They’ll keep the ball, play it out from the back, and the full backs will bomb forward,

“But with our physicality and our set pieces we could get the three points. With the way we’re playing at the moment, I can’t see us losing a game. There’s good camaraderie and we’re hitting form at the right time. Tuesday is massive for us.”

The Cup replay will be played a week tomorrow unless there is live TV coverage and this dictates a change.

An away tie with Everton in the fifth round awaits the winners.
