Premier test if Owls win replay

editorial image

SHEFFIELD Wednesday will visit Everton if they can finish off Championship side Blackpool in their FA Cup replay.

Gary Megson’s men drew 1-1 at Blackpool, courtesy of a 93rd minute equaliser from the home side, but will feel they did enough to feel confident of a victory in the replay.

Everton are currently 14th in the Premier League.

Elsewhere, Crawley will host Premier League Stoke in the fifth round of the FA Cup, following yesterday’s draw.

The League Two club, who are the lowest-ranked side left in the competition, beat Hull on Saturday and will be hoping to create an even bigger shock against Tony Pulis’ men.

League One Stevenage host Tottenham, while Brighton’s reward for beating Newcastle is a trip to Anfield to face Liverpool, who beat them in the third round of the Carling Cup.

Liverpool are searching for a second Wembley final appearance this season after they beat Manchester City to reach the Carling Cup showpiece.

Chelsea host last year’s Carling Cup winners Birmingham, who beat Sheffield United 4-0.

There is only one potential all-Premier League clash with the winners of the replay between Sunderland and Middlesbrough, who drew yesterday, drawn against Arsenal or Aston Villa.

Norwich will host Leicester, while Bolton go to either Millwall or Southampton.

The fixtures will be played on the weekend of February 18-19.

John Bostock has apparently been signed from Tottenham. England youth player 20yr old attacking midfielder, who has been loaned out to Brentford & Hull. Their fans wrote in to Vital football saying that he had a lot of skill but perhaps lacked application! Mr Megson probably sees that as a bit of a challenge. If he gives us something different & performs well fair enough, but unless he plays wide I am struggling to see where he would improve things, but GM knows what he wants & hopefully he will get it. I would like to see the other player or players signed though rather than loaned. There is also a school of thought that says that stability is better than change when things are going well! UTFO!

Good morning furry & feathered fellas! I did not think we would lose away to Blackpool, but to be honest with you & I hate to say this, we would probably be better off out of it. I hope Gary plays a very attack minded side that come out all guns blazing to entertain the fans win or lose. If we go through to the next round, fair enough & if we lose, we don't have to worry about playing important league games mid week or getting distracted by the big opposition in the cup. We have already had the MK Dons match moved to a Tuesday night because of Saturdays game, now we have the replay, the Tuesday before we play Exeter (who were narrowly beaten by Charlton this week) and if we go through to play Everton, we will get the Chesterfield game moved, hopefully to the Tuesday after we play Utd, but it could well end up being the Tuesday before. I know they are professional footballers & so on but teams moan about extra games at Christmas so what will they say about this fixture pile up? UTFO!
