SHEFFIELD Wednesday today announced the appointment of a third director: former Portsmouth and Leicester City executive Mark Johnson.

He joins chairman Milan Mandaric and vice-chairman Paul Aldridge on the board.

Johnson was chief finance officer at Leicester and finance director at Portsmouth. He left Leicester earlier this year as part of a management restructure.

Wednesday say he is joining them in “a new executive role designed to increase the internal strength and management across the business,” and has international experience in a variety of sectors.

Milan Mandaric, who was in charge at Leicester and Portsmouth, said: “I would like to welcome Mark to Sheffield Wednesday.

“This is a significant appointment for our club because of Mark’s extensive experience in finance across the business world and not least in football.”
