‘Massive’ games ahead for Owls

SHEFFIELD Wednesday midfielder Chris Lines isn’t dwelling on their FA Cup humbling at home to Blackpool and is tipping the team to get back on the winning trail.

Instead of a fifth round tie at Premier League stalwarts Everton a week on Saturday, the Owls will return to league duty at Chesterfield, having been dumped out of Britain’s oldest cup competition.

Lines said: “It is disappointing we are not going to Everton because it is a great stadium. It would have been a great cup tie but it is not happening now and we have to forget about it and bounce back on Saturday and most importantly get three points.

“Chesterfield is more important by a mile. The league is the main aim and that takes priority over any cup competition. We have to keep doing what we are doing in the league and not let what happened against Blackpool affect us at all. At the end of the day we just want promotion.”

Gary Megson’s men were thoroughly outplayed in their 3-0 fourth round replay loss to Blackpool but Lines is confident the club will bounce back immediately.

“We were beaten by the better team,” he said. “Blackpool passed us off the park at times. That’s why they are fifth in the Championship and have every chance of playing in the Premier League again next season. We are not going to have any hangover. We are doing well in the league and have got a massive game against Exeter on Saturday and another one on Tuesday against Stevenage and we are aiming for six points.

“The side might change again on Saturday. Some people might keep their place and some might not. That’s the luxury of such a big squad.”

Lines admitted he was ‘gutted’ to lose the tie but added: “Ian Holloway is a great manager and is obviously drilling the passing ethic into them.”

What I used to like on here was the thoughtful football comment or the humour, just lately it's neither. For instance do you need to be able to read and write to count pies? , while others think it's clever just to misspel. You muppets are boring me witless.

Sorry london sadly I'm not ovo. That is just inconceivable and impossible. My spelling mistakes is a combination of voice recognition software  that types as you talk. Incedently it is more trouble than its worth. It great for long latin medical names and deceasers I cannot spell. But not good for all the little words in between. I have also dangled bate for the grammar nazis. Hope that answers your question.

The caterers at Wembley are hoping Harry gets the job. They'll be able to charge him whatever they want when he goes for 12 pies and 12 oxo's at halftime

What England need is a manager who can get footballers to get on with it or get out of it, without them running to the lawyers all the time. Abuse has always been a feature at all levels of football from local parks to the players and terraces of premiership clubs. Just imagine what's said in the scrums in Rugby ! Harry boy says he can't read or write so he should get on fine with our sports journalists, but how long will he put up with the aptly named F*** A ** ?

Utd fans come on here giving it large. In reality they hoof the ball. 3 passess in a row don't make utd into Brazil. Wednesday do both they adapt. Some times Wednesday play good football, other times they are direct. Charlie web says its difficult when teams park the bus. That's what teams do when they play Wednesday. If the blades think its going to be easy against Huddersfield or Wednesday dream on. Both teams are good teams in L1. In our local derby anything can happen and usually does. Unlike utd fans I will not predict we will walk the league. We will lose a few, draw a few and win some. Wednesday have a good chance of automatic promotion, but saw do all the other teams round us. Blades fans are to arrogant and Mardy. If utd go through what Wednesday went through for than 10 years. There would be no fans at the lane. All the bragging the blades do. But soon as the lose you do not see them. Reality check blades, automatic promotion is not a god given right.
