Loan signing on cards as trio face ban threat

swansea midfield player Ferrie Bodde has already emerged as a possible target for Wednesday when the market for emergency loans opens next week.

But boss Gary Megson is also not ruling a move for another defender before the season is out.

The club seem well equipped defensively just now but Reda Johnson, Rob Jones and Danny Batth are inching closer to suspensions for amassing 10 bookings.

Players who reach 10 yellow cards before the second Sunday in April receive two-match bans.

Johnson has eight bookings so far and Jones and Batth seven each.

Megson confirmed that he expects some sort of loan activity, which may include Bodde, but he added: “We have near enough a fully fit squad, except for one, but we have three of them ridiculously treading thin ice.

“There may be something we have to do there but we’ll look at that nearer the time.”

The Owls also have Daniel Jones out for weeks with a calf injury.

Tomorrow’s opponents, Yeovil, faced a defence headache with centre-back and captain Paul Huntington beginning a three-match ban after being sent off last week. He has also been charged with misconduct.

Ex-Owls defender Richard Hinds was signed yesterday on a contract to the end of the season and is likely to play at Hillsborough.

Hinds, a Sheffielder and lifelong Wednesdayite, was released by the Owls last summer.

Yeovil manager Gary Johnson said: “Having been left high and dry by the FA rejecting the appeal against Paul Huntington’s red card, we were lucky to find available someone of Richard’s experience. He has played more than 300 games.

“Saturday will be a huge game for him, playing against his former club.”

Former Wednesday striker Steve MacLean is not expected to start but could be on the bench: he has gone out of the starting line-up recently, after Johnson was appointed on January 9 to replace Terry Skiverton, who has become assistant manager.

The Glovers beat Preston 2-1 at home last week.

# How do Tawny. We ought to get together and start a new paper. We could call it Sheffield Today, as opposed the Sheffield of several days ago that you get with the Star. As you say, the paper is now a load of tripe.

#4, Please don't go getting my expectations up again 4mins. Terry H, may be first in the queue when it comes to being computer geek, but boy what a player. He is the nearest thing to John Sheridan that I have seen and despite being in his late 20's now, he really could do a job for us. You naughty boy! Fnug fnug caffuffle! UTFO!

Yes, I had heard that Bodde had broken down after as few minutes in a reserve match earlier this week. It is nice to see The Star so up to date. . . . Mind you for an evening paper it is good to know that you are able to buy the evening edition at half five in the morning!!! . Such a pity that news is more like history.

Unbelievable! Star pick up on a story all over forums days after the fact and completely miss the fact Bodde got injured the other night. They should be concentrating on the rumours that we're looking at taking Terry Henfleet on loan. It would be a fantastic signing if it comes off.

Would love to sign Bodde. That to me would be the signing of the season.
