Laws bids for return to management
FORMER Owls boss Brian Laws has confirmed that he is job-hunting.
He has been out of work since being sacked by Burnley in December, 2010.
But after enjoying a break from the game, he is on the look-out for a chance to get back into management.
“I feel fairly refreshed. I probably needed the break and I’m ready to go back in, now,” he said.
“There haven’t been any opportunities that I’ve really wanted to go for up to now. I’m just waiting for the right one, and I think I have a lot to offer.”
He managed Grimsby and Scunthorpe and had a three-year spell with Wednesday.
The 51-year-old left Hillsborough by mutual consent on December 13, 2009, and was appointed at Burnley - who were his first club when he was a player - the following month after Owen Coyle’s departure to Bolton.
Russ Wilcox, who was Laws’ assistant at Scunthorpe, Wednesday and Burnley, became assistant to Bournemouth manager Lee Bradbury in December.
The Cherries caused a stir in League One by spending £800,000 last month on Crawley striker Matt Tubbs - who was on the Owls’ list of possible targets last summer.
Tubbs scored his first goal for his new club - his 19th of the season - in Bournemouth’s 2-0 home win against Exeter on Tuesday.
Exeter, the Owls’ opponents tomorrow, have now gone four games without a goal.
Until a 1-0 defeat at home to Charlton in the game before last, they had kept three successive clean sheets.
They drew 0-0 with Hartlepool and Oldham and on January 7 won 2-0 at Chesterfield - their only victory in the last 10 games.

Current incumbent is ambitious forceful Paulo De Canio, but predecessors include Danny Wilson & Paul Sturrock. Expect Paulo will be "pushing off" fairly soon, on the back of a good 1st season with Swindon and a Paint Trophy Final v genuine Owls' hero John Sheridan's Chesterfield (Come On Chesterfield!).

Friday, February 10, 2012 at 11:24 AMGood luck Brian you did a greatd job keeping Wednesday up & close to the play-offs one year with no money & a chairman who kept selling our best players to keep the club going. The end of the line for Brian was when Woods was sold & Purse brought in. We went from having the best home defensive record to one of the worst. I said at the time that the move to Burnley was a big mistake. Coyle jumped ship to Bolton because he knew that Burnley were not good enough for the prem & he was right. Laws will always be well regarded at Hillsborough because of the entertaining way his team played & of course that lovely city double, which we so nearly did the year before too! UTFO!
