OWLS striker Gary Madine has been named the September Young Player of the Month for the Football League.
It follows his six-goal haul during the month which made him the League’s top scorer.
The 21-year-old said: “I am very pleased to get this award and I want to thank everyone at Sheffield Wednesday for helping me win it.
“I couldn’t have done it without the great service and the hard work of my team- mates.
“I had a slow start in January but it is getting better thanks to the great support from the gaffer.”
Manager Gary Megson said: “Gary’s award is fully deserved. He didn’t set off playing in the first couple of games the way he would have wanted, but the way he was playing suggested he would do.
“I’m delighted that’s he’s scoring in numbers. He’s got a lot of learning to do but already he’s developing a good scoring record.”
Madine last week narrowly lost out to Preston’s Neil Mellor in the running for the League One Player of the Month award.
