Jones backing Owls to pass test

CAPTAIN Rob Jones believes that the Owls can overcome a test of character in the derbies against Chesterfield and United as they bid to recover from the rare experience of two successive league defeats.

The skipper insists that Wednesday can revive their bid for automatic promotion and bounce back as they have done in the past.

“There are 15 games and 45 points to play for,” he said. “The next two were big games anyway, irrespective of how the league form was going; the fact that we’ve lost two has added a bit more.

“It’s a big week for us, a test of character; it will show what characters we have in our dressing room; it’s a very good one - people react in the right manner and do things in the right manner.

“We’re third in the division. It’s not doom and gloom or panic stations. It’s about getting back to business the sooner the better.”

Depending on this weekend’s results the Owls could remain in a position to overtake the Blades if they win the city derby.

Jones felt that the Owls played well at times against Stevenage and did not lack effort or determination. “Luck just didn’t go with us. We have to work hard and hopefully our lucky returns, we get the goals going and we’ll be fine.

“There’s lots to do, lots to play for. It’s not as if there’s a rush of games and the season is about to finish.

“When we’ve had a little spell before when we haven’t won, we’ve responded, and that’s what we should be looking for again.”

Wednesday lost at Bournemouth and Bury in August but won their next game, against Notts County.

MM Seems to have a thing for clubs in Aministration. Mabey he will come back and buy you once you do a Pompey once hes gone? Regarding past attendances, it wasnt me who started on about them but you all took the bait ha ha! The Swillsbro game is not our cup final, get over yoursleves. Bror did beat us for sure but we wernt trying to smokescreen over it like you lot. Exeter drew with us yes but again i thought we were talking about how they did you whil;e in a barren run. Noboby has replied yet to explain how you managed to sell 31k of tickets in 4 days if you have season ticket holders.............. Noboday has come back and explained to me how they get to half of our fan base disappearing in 4 years........... If Prem figures were generally lower back in the day when you were half decent what do you think attendences are like no in a double dip recession?................... If you want to shout lound and proud that 11k of you uddled up to watch a big telly go for it. But we have a LOYALTY points scheme, the clue is in the title. Even your fans were moaning when your extra tickets went on sale and all the armchair fans were buying them, 4 tickets per person i think. Our away games have been one ticket per person for as long as i can remember. Last post on this subject so do your worst

With the news that MM wants to buy Rangers, I should like to know why he hasn't invested more of his cash in us in an effort to try to ensure promotion this year. I'm sure GM would have identified some players that cost a few bob, but nobody has arrived that wasn't free or only cost a couple of hundred thousand or so. It's the old adage "speculate to accumulate" which I assume he has done well in the past to accumulate his cash. Maybe I'm being greedy because he did save us in the first place, but we need just that little bit more, plus with the hoped for success, he will get his investment back...and more.

BM @ 58 and 61 try doing a rational grown up post for a change it may make you feel better. Instead of the juvenile, retarded ones you do. In fact try going to watch a match at the ground of the team you allege you support that may make you feel better too....... That's if your benefit will stretch that far....... I hear the blunts do good deals for you dole dwellers. They could do with every penny they get!! UTO

I think the ONLY charlie on here UTO1 is you, when ive seen you prancing around your bedroom this evening to an erasure song dressed in your sisters bra and knickers! You really must learn to control your strange desires and if you DONT stop saying nasty words on here then you wont be listening to the football on Radio Sheffield at the weekend. Dont forget either that your paper round money for this week is owed to me to replace the vase you broke in your temper tantrum when your team lost and United won. Behave you silly little boy OR ELSE!

Mancturd I see what you mean about your search engine being naff.... We've covered the stats for Exeter if it wasn't for a blunder by their goalie in the 90th minute they would've held Charlton 0-0, some thing you couldn't do!!!! If you check their last 5 home games you'll find they have come into some form. Plus let's not forget they put 4 past you at your place!!!!!!!!! HAWWWWWWWWW YOU say stick to hear...... sorry I think you mean HERE and now then talk about highest attendances in the Premiership...... Talk (yet again, by a blunt) about double standards......... Just remember in 2005 we took 42,000 to the Millennium stadium could you lot take that many???? NO!!!! What about our high of 38,688 in 1992-93 or our high of 38,943 in 96-97 or what about 39,427 in 97-98 followed by 39,475 in 98-99 you or even 39,640 in 99-2000 you..... now lets see your high of 32,854 PLANT POT!!!!!! DOH!!!!!! Don't you look like a right Charlie!! UTO

But the pigs had to many freebies. That's why attendances don't matter. Also, soon as the pigs take a car load away. The pigs are on here bragging. Makes me laugh when the pigs are doimg ok. All the pigs come out of the woodwork
