JON Otsemobor believes that opportunity now knocks for Wednesday teammates in the same way that it did for him.

The right-back seized his chance when a vacancy arose and he is enjoying a new lease of life.

He feels that though Ben Marshall’s exit is regrettable it means that someone else could shine in the left-winger’s spot.

“You don’t want to see your better players leave, and Ben has had a big impact. He’s been fantastic, so to see him leave is very disappointing, but it opens the door for other lads,” said Otsemobor.

“We’re where we are because of the squad and team. Ben has been a big part of that but I wouldn’t say he was the be all and end all of it.”

The full-back provides examples of possible replacements: “We’ve brought in Mike Jones, who can play right or left; I played against him at Bury and I’ve watched him other times and know he’s a quality player. I think JJ [Jermaine Johnson] could do a job there; Daniel Jones can play left wing.

“Whether they’ll do as good a job as Ben is hard to say, but they have the ability to take the shirt.

“Everybody knows he’s not coming back. It’s an opportunity for lads who haven’t had a look-in because Ben’s been doing so well to take the shirt and hopefully do as well.”
