Johnson double act tops the bill in comeback win
THE two Johnsons were the stand-out performers in Sheffield Wednesday’s come-from-behind victory over Yeovil Town.
On the left flank, Reda and Jermaine linked up neatly throughout and regularly kept the Glovers on the back foot at Hillsborough.
Reda Johnson never shirked a tackle, kept things simple in possession and was always willing to bomb forward and support the attack. To cap off a fine individual display, he got on the scoresheet for the sixth time this season, proving yet again how much of a threat he is from set pieces.
Reda’s namesake, Jermaine, flatters to deceive at times but, currently, he is in a rich vein of form. He bagged his third goal in five matches and it was a stunning long range effort. It was a moment of individual brilliance from the Jamaican international which the Owls desperately required to get back into the contest.
In a team dominated by Wednesday players, I’ve selected Stephen Bywater in between the sticks. He was solid and went about his business with a minimum of fuss. Miguel Llera makes it into the back four and is partnered in the middle by Chesterfield centre-half Neal Trotman. Scott Wiseman gets the nod at right-back.
John Bostock showed flashes of his quality when Wednesday had the ball and was unlucky to see a free-kick just go over the bar. I’ve chosen him on the right wing and Korey Smith, who has impressed since moving to Oakwell on a temporary basis, is picked in the middle of the park alongside Spireites loanee David Davis.
Chris O’Grady battled manfully up front and I’ve paired him with Drew Talbot, who finished superbly to give Chesterfield the lead at Carlisle United.
