Former Owls know the score

With a third of the season gone, there is a Wednesday theme running through the higher echelons of the League One scoring charts.

Five of the top six scorers have some connection with the Owls.

Charlton’s Bradley Wright-Phillips leads the way with 12 goals, but just behind him is Gary Madine who has been in prolific form for Gary Megson’s side this season and has 11 goals.

Tied with Madine is Huddersfield’s Jordan Rhodes, who is the son of Wednesday’s goalkeeping coach Andy.

Just below Madine and Rhodes are a trio of former Owls.

Leon Clarke has struck eight goals in just ten appeances for Chesterfield since joining on loan from Swindon.

Below him is Shefki Kuqi (Oldham) and Neil Mellor (Preston), both on seven for the season. Kuqi has struck four in his last five outings, while last season’s loan star, Mellor, has a more even spread throughout the campaign.
