Czech Republic international Daniel Pudil believes Owls teammate Fernando Forestieri is one of the best strikers in the Championship.

Big money signing Forestieri is set to line up against table-topping Brighton and Hove Albion at Hillsborough tonight seeking his fifth goal in nine Wednesday starts.

The Owls go into the clash on the back of a 10-match unbeaten run and tickets have been priced at £20 for adults, £15 concessions, £10 Under 17s and £5 U11s.

Pudil, who used to play alongside Forestieri at Watford, told The Star: “I am happy Fernando [Forestieri] is in our team. If I had to play against him, I think it would be quite difficult because he is one of the best players I have seen in my life.

“If you trust him and believe in him, Fernando’s confidence goes up and he can make a big difference in the team.

“He is one of the best players in the league. He is very skilful and can go past players in one on one situations.

“If you give him the confidence, he can make the difference and help us to achieve something.”

Like Wednesday, Brighton are also in a rich vein of form. Chris Hughton’s men have yet to taste defeat in the league, winning eight of their 14 matches.

However, a victory for the Owls will move them to within four points of the Seagulls and potentially lift them into the play-off positions.

Pudil said: “We are winning games but this can change in a minute. We can lose two games quickly so we have to be strong in the head. The season is quite long so we have to be focused.

“I don’t want to think about Brighton. I want to concentrate on our performance. If we play the same way as we have done in the last 10 games, we don’t have to be scared of anyone.”

Carlos Carvalhal is under no illusions at the size of the task facing the Owls and says Brighton will be even tougher opposition than Hull City were last month.

The head coach, who confirmed Sam Hutchinson is pushing for a first-team recall, said: “Brighton are very similar to us. They have some very strong points which is why they have had a good sequence of results. I believe it will be a very hard game for both of us.

“It is more tough than Hull. Hull probably have better players individually. Brighton have good players also but, in this moment of time, they are a very strong team. It is why they are in first place. Our players need help from the fans. We want them to give us energy.”
