GARY Megson is pondering on a place for Rob Jones against Exeter on Saturday after the defender’s visit to a specialist.

GARY Megson is pondering on a place for Rob Jones against Exeter on Saturday after the defender’s visit to a specialist.

Tests have revealed that the skipper did not break his cheekbone - which was the major fear - in the collision that led to Yeovil’s controversial goal last Saturday.

“Rob did break his nose, which seems to be the way, as it’s the 10th time he’s done it,” said Megson. “What we were most worried about was possible damage to his cheekbone, and his vision.

“But his cheekbone is fine and his vision is coming back. He might be available for selection. We’ll have to see.”

Jones - set to be replaced by Reda Johnson if he is unfit - wants the Owls to cash in on Exeter’s poor start to the season and avoid falling victim to another upset.

Wednesday had won four home games in a row when the Grecians came to Hillsborough for the final game of last season - but Paul Tisdale’s side triumphed 2-1.

Now Megson’s men have won their first four home League games of this season and face a club who have hit a downturn after being one of the League One surprise packages with their ninth-place finish.

Exeter are currently next to bottom, with five points after one win, two draws and six defeats. They lost 2-0 at home to Bournemouth last Saturday

Jones feels that Saturday brings an opportunity for the Owls to extend their 100 per cent home record, which came via victories against Rochdale, Blackpool in the Carling Cup, Notts County, Scunthorpe and MK Dons.

“Exeter have not had the best of starts but we will not be taking anything for granted,” he says.

“We played Exeter on the final day of last season and were playing really well at Hillsborough but they beat us that day, so we know what they are capable of.

“But if we work hard and everybody does their jobs, we know we are capable of another win.”
