Defender Morgan Fox claims the international break has come at a good time for the depleted Owls to “clear their heads”.

Despite losing four of their last six Championship matches, Carlos Carvalhal’s men continue to occupy the final play-off spot.

Fulham missed the chance to leapfrog them over the weekend after suffering a surprise home defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

As for Wednesday, who are currently without the services of Sam Hutchinson, Kieran Lee, Ross Wallace, Gary Hooper, Almen Abdi and Fernando Forestieri through injury, the promotion-chasers have a long wait until their next fixture.

The Owls return to action away to South Yorkshire rivals Barnsley on April 1.

Fox said: “I think it (the break) has come at a great time. We have a lot of injuries and boys carrying knocks as well so we can get them sorted out and clear our heads.

“We can have a bit of downtime as well, get the legs back and go again.

“Having the injured guys back will definitely make a difference. Strength in numbers can only be a good thing.

The full-backs expects there to be plenty of twists and turns in the final two months of the campaign.

“There are teams fighting for their lives at the bottom and teams fighting to get in the top positions,” said Fox.

“Anyone can beat anyone in this league and we know that.”

Wednesday’s hopes of securing a top-six finish took a blow on Friday night as they slipped to a 2-0 defeat against rivals Reading at Hillsborough.

Fox acknowledged: “It was very frustrating. With the second goal, they just caught us out as we were going for it.

“It is disappointing. The amount of chances we had were unbelievable. I think their keeper had a blinder.

“We worked hard and were disappointed to go a goal down. We did everything to get back in the game.

“Now we have to move on to the next game. We will take the break now, definitely regroup and come back stronger.”
