SHEFFIELD United have seen their odds shortened to 7/2 in Skybet’s League One title betting after winning three of their last four games.
With the Blades also in third place and unbeaten, promotion has now been cut to 5/4 with Paddy Power, and it is 4/7 with BetVictor for them to end up as the highest placed northern team in the division.
Bookies expect United to at least consolidate their position in the table as they host Oldham, bet365 pricing the home team at 8/13 to pick up another maximum haul and Stan James ranking the Latics as 19/4 outsiders.
Admittedly, the visitors have picked up back-to-back wins, an improvement in form that could push sceptics towards the draw at 3/1 (Skybet), but on their own patch Wilson’s outfit should have the upper hand and BetVictor make them 13/5 to prevail by a one-goal margin for the fifth time this season.
Bearing that in mind, punters can tackle bet365’s offer of 6/1 for United to nick it 1-0, or there is Ladbrokes’ 7/1 posted against a 2-1 Blades triumph, and Stan James quote 10/3 for United to win after a level first half.
William Hill rate a goalless first period at 9/4, and it is 6/5 at bet365 for scores to be level at half time.
Some bookies are finding it tough to separate Hartlepool and Doncaster as the pair meet, William Hill pricing both at 17/10 to pouch the spoils and that could lead neutral punters towards the stalemate, priced by Ladbrokes at 23/10.
Hartlepool, BetVictor’s slight outsiders at 9/5, have won only once in all competitions this season, and with Rovers in decent shape they should have the edge. Paddy Power make them 16/5 to win by one goal, and Stan James offer 7/1 against Doncaster picking up the contest’s only goal.
Southend, visitors to Rotherham, having won only one of their last five League outings, and Rotherham are fancied at 20/21 at Stan James to make it five successes in six home fixtures.
Chesterfield are favoured at home to a Dagenham and Redbridge outfit yet to taste victory away from home. BetVictor make the Daggers 10/3 to snap that sequence but it is the Spireites who possess the appeal at odds of 10/11 (Skybet), especially as they are unbeaten at the Proact Stadium.
