Beevers injury scare for Owls

TOMORROW'S break from Championship action could be timely for Wednesday and Mark Beevers.

The key defender has picked up a hamstring injury in training which might have threatened his chances of playing if the Owls had been facing a game this weekend.

It is hoped that he will be fit for the next match, against Watford at Hillsborough a week tomorrow.

Rumours that he was carried off at the training ground this week have been strongly denied by Brian Laws."That is not true," said the Owls manager.

"Mark does have a bit of an injury, which we are treating.

"There is no game this weekend and, fingers crossed, he should be ok for the next game.

"He just felt some tightness in his hamstring in a training session. You stop and make sure he's all right. He walked off the training ground.

"Whether he would have been able to play tomorrow, I'm not sure, but hopefully he'll be ok for the Watford game."

Meanwhile, Richards Hinds is coming to terms with his long absence caused by the severe injury that he suffered at Wolves three weeks ago: a leg fracture and a dislocated ankle.

A plaster cast has been removed and replaced by a lightweight cast.

It was estimated initially that he would be out for three months but the right back Hinds has been told that it is too early to say exactly when he will be fit:

"I keep asking the physio but he would rather not put a time on it because he says I could get more frustrated and start pushing myself quicker than I should.

"I'm seeing the surgeon on a weekly basis too and he will give me the go-ahead to start doing more recovery work, as and when.

"It's just a matter of taking each day as it comes and listening to the advice of the medical staff."
