WATCH: 'We need to cut out slow starts' says Sheffield United defender Jack O'Connell

They may be top of the League One table and well clear of their nearest challengers, but Jack O'Connell has warned his Sheffield United teammates that they need to cut out the slow starts if they are to seal promotion to the Championship this season.

United went behind early on against Charlton yesterday, and could have been 2-0 down when the visitors hit the bar, before they eventually found their feet and won 2-1 thanks to goals from O'Connell and Danny Lafferty.

And O'Connell admitted: "For the goal, we brought about our own downfall really. We could have cleared the ball a few times, and we put ourselves under pressure so we only have ourselves to blame there.

"We've got to cut out the slow starts but to be fair, we recovered well and got the win which was the main thing.

"The gaffer [Chris Wilder] had a few words at half-time, and we started the second half on the front foot, came back into the game and won it."
