Billy Sharp's late winner snatched all three points for Sheffield United and took them up to second in League One after a dramatic night at the Ricoh Arena.
Sharp had put the Blades in front amid a backdrop of continued protests from Coventry City supporters against the club's owners Sisu, with whistles ringing around the sparsely populated stadium throughout the match.
Dan Agyei equalised for the home side and they looked to have secured a point until a pitch invasion disrupted the game in the final stages.
After a five minute delay the teams reemerged and Sharp fired in the winning goal which took United to level on points with leaders Scunthorpe and behind merely on goal difference.
