All the talk ahead of this match was about a player who didn't end up on the pitch, having public dig at one that very much did.

Bolton Wanderers' former Sheffield Wednesday forward Gary Madine, who was filmed insulting Billy sharp on a video posted on social media, was left out of the Trotters' starting line-up. Apparently he was a wee bit poorly.

However, Sharp showed he was far from bothered by Madine's 'fat' jibe and the only thing bulging about the Blades striker is his goal tally as a fifth brace of the season took his total for the campaign to 23.

Sharp opened the scoring in the 13th minute then doubled the lead from the penalty spot after Samir Carruthers had been brought down in the box.

United manager Chris Wilder said afterwards: "It was a deserved three points in the second half, we dismantled a decent side - who have a lot of good players - pretty comprehensively."
