The former Oldham defender was today officially announced as Chris Wilder's third signing of the summer, agreeing a two-year deal at Bramall Lane.

The 27 year old had been training with his new team mates for a few days already and joined them again officially as a Blades player at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield to take part in a boxing and spinning session.

Wilson admitted that he had been approached by a few other League One club's but Sheffield United were his number one choice from the start.

"I came in to train, the manager wanted me to come and train and see if I got a good vibe about the place and I think it went well," he said. "He wanted to see if I could fit in with the boys and I think that's the main thing in a lot of places. I feel like I've done well.

"There was a couple of League One clubs interested but obviously when Sheffield United knocks on the door you come. It's a massive club, a massive fan base, the city's great. I'm excited to be here."
