Sheffield United have completed the signing of Leicester City midfielder Dean Hammond.
The 32-year-old received clearance from the Premier League to join Nigel Adkins's side today after undergoing a medical at their Steelphalt Academy training complex.
Hammond is scheduled to remain with United until January - the maximum duration permitted under the terms of an emergency loan - following talks between representatives acting on behalf of Bramall Lane and the KP Stadium.
Adkins, who appointed Hammond as captain during a hugely successful spell in charge of Southampton, told The Star: "We're delighted to bring Dean in. He's a quality performer and knows what it takes to be a success both at this level and the one above."
Hammond, who worked under United's first team coach Dean Wilkins at Brighton and Hove Albion, was Adkins' captain when he led Southampton from the third to the first tier of English football four seasons ago before reaching the top-flight with City in 2014.
