Martyn Woolford has warned teams will be making a grave mistake if they dismiss Sheffield United as a soft touch this season, writes James Shield.

Nigel Adkins’ side enter today’s game at Bradford City hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after being beaten by Bury and Colchester.

But Woolford told The Star: “Yes, those results were really disappointing but we’ve shown we won’t roll over. We fought our way back into both of them after going behind and then have been a little bit unlucky in terms of the chances we missed.

“Luck turns though. So when you’re not rolling over and showing really good character, that stands you in good stead. You know when you’ve got character and fight among the lads that it gives you a really good base and, trust me, we’re ready to fight for everything.”

United, fifth in the table ahead of this afternoon’s round of games, entered the international break on a four match winning streak before seeing their progress halted.

Woolford, who was courted by City before joining Adkins’ squad during the close season, scored his first goal since leaving Millwall against Colchester in midweek.

“The Bradford game is live on television and there’s going to be a brilliant atmosphere,” the Featherstone born winger said. “You get yourself up for every single game but derbies always have a little bit extra.

“It’s three points at the end of the day but some three points are worth a little bit more than others in some ways and, if we get them here, then it will give us the confidence to kick start another good run like we were on before.

“I look forward to these games and we can’t wait to get out there and try to put things right. To show people what we’re really about and that we won’t roll over.”
