Nigel Clough acknowledged this week that fatigue is finally beginning to take its toll.
Not just in physical terms, he acknowledged, but psychologically too.
“A lot of emotion has gone into our recent matches,” Clough said. “Because, in their own right, every single one of them has been so important.
“We’ve had the semi-final of the FA Cup, a quarter-final against Charlton Athletic and then Nottingham Forest in the same competition too.
“In the league there has been Rotherham which is a local derby but when we were chasing the play-offs, when you go to places like Gillingham and Crawley, the relief after getting a victory is huge.”
