Jose Baxter has vowed to propel Sheffield United towards League One safety after manager Nigel Clough swept away the uncertainity surrounding his best role in the team.
Baxter, previously of Everton and Oldham Athletic, was deployed ‘in the hole’ by Clough’s predecessor David Weir but has since being asked to operate as a traditional centre-forward by the former England international.
“I enjoy playing as a striker,” Baxter said. “When I was growing-up, that’s what I was and so it feels nice and natural.
“Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy finding those spaces in between the lines and working in there.”
