THE BOOKIES VIEW: A little luck may turn things around for Sheffield clubs

Have your say

IT was a grim night for the two Sheffield clubs on Tuesday night, and it’s difficult to be optimistic in any shape or form at the moment.

Let’s deal with the Blades first. They are now 15/8 to get relegated, and that might feel an attractive price now that they have landed in the bottom three.

By all accounts the Blades were unlucky not to get at least a point against Leicester, but it seems that a little smidgeon of luck is eluding Micky Adams at the moment.

Anyway whichever way you look at it, United need to turn things around…and quickly. They take on Ipswich at Portman Road on Saturday and to be honest the only bet I can recommend is on Ipswich at Evens.

We are best priced at 3/1 on the Blades so if you disagree it’s there for you to take.

Another boss holding his head in his hands at the moment is Alan Irvine.

He must be feeling the pressure as the promotion bid falters. It’s difficult to put your finger on what he is doing wrong, because his reputation is pretty good and by all accounts he works very hard on the training ground.

We are now 15/8 that they end up in the Top 6 and a best priced 15/2 that they manage to get promoted. They have a massive match on Saturday against MK Dons, and it does look like a must-win.

The Owls are Evens to win the match, but I couldn’t get involved at that price. If they were to lose then one of their promotion chasing rivals will be well ahead of them, and they could even end up sitting uneasily in the bottom half of the table.
