James D Phipps, Sheffield United’s co-chairman, has wished Alex Sabella well in his quest to become the first manager of Argentina to lift the World Cup since Carlos Bilardo in 1986.

Sabella, who represented United nearly 100 times as a player, leads the South Americans into this evening’s final against Germany and Phipps told The Star: “Alex Sabella, Blades everywhere remember you, are proud of you and wish you well in the final.”
