DANNY Wilson has warned Sheffield United’s League One rivals his team are not prepared to take a backward step in their push for the Championship.
Although the former Northern Ireland international is known to favour a passing game, speaking ahead of Saturday’s home clash with MK Dons he insisted United also possess the physical attributes required to mix it with the most fearsome sides in the division.
Reflecting on last weekend’s victory over Oldham Athletic, which stretched the visitors’ unbeaten run to six games, Wilson told The Star: “The lads have shown they are prepared to stand strong and not back down.
“We’re at that stage now when everyone is fighting for something. That means you’ve got to be prepared to stand-up and battle it out.
“We knew Oldham would be physical. We knew they’d look to get as us in that regard.
“But I thoughT my lads were excellent because they stood-up to it and were not prepared to give an inch. They were determined not to budge.
“We want to carry that on and show more of the same.”
Dons, who entertained League One leaders Doncaster Rovers last night, prefer creativity to confrontation.
Wilson added: “Every single match offers something different. A different challenge and a different type of test.
“That’s why you’ve got to be able to do all aspects rather than just focus on one particular thing.”
