Sheffield United did not receive any approaches for Che Adams before Monday’s transfer deadline, The Star can reveal.
Officials at Bramall Lane had been warned the England youth international would attract offers from the likes of Manchester City and AFC Bournemouth after reports linking him with a Premier League move surfaced in sections of the media.
Nigel Adkins dismissed suggestions Adams would be sold during the January window when the subject was raised before his team’s visit to Blackpool a week ago and sources last night confirmed the teenager’s future in South Yorkshire was never discussed by either the United manager or his staff.
Adams, aged 19, lost his place in Adkins’ starting eleven when he was sent-off against Oldham Athletic earlier this term but made his 23rd appearance of the season at Bloomfield Road.
The former Ilkeston attacker, who recently signed a new long-term contract, is expected to be named in the United squad which hosts Wigan Athletic on Saturday.
