Lyle Taylor will be a relieved man after netting his first goal for Sheffield United, David Weir has claimed.
Taylor, a £250,000 signing from Falkirk, enters tonight’s friendly with Atromitos FC hoping to score for the second time in as many games following Monday’s match-winning effort against Alfreton Town.
United’s decision to spend a six figure sum acquiring his services is a measure of their belief in the 23-year-old’s talents.
Weir, whose team complete their preparations for the new League One campaign at York City tomorrow, has been keen not to burden Taylor with too much responsibility since his arrival at Bramall Lane.
But he told The Star: “Every striker, when they come to a new club, wants to get off the mark as quickly as possible. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a pre-season a game or whatever, they just want to put the ball in the back of the net.
“Doing exactly that is going to fill Lyle with confidence which can only be good news for him and for us.”
