STEVENAGE striker Patrick Agyemang is confident they will prevail over two legs against Sheffield United as long as they replicate the performance they produced at Bramall Lane 10 days ago.
The visitors established a 2-0 lead in front of the Sky cameras before United fought back to claim a draw, a result which effectively ended their hopes of securing second place in League One.
Stevenage host the Blades in the first leg of their play-off semi-final meeting on Friday evening and are on course for a third successive promotion.
And Agyemang, on loan from Queens Park Rangers, feels it is a good time to play United after they missed out on going up automatically.
He said: “It’s going to be a good test of their character to see if they can pick themselves up and go again. If they are up for it then it will be a good game but, if not, they are going to get turned over.
“We’ll be the underdogs but at the moment we’re in good form and the team is playing well, so hopefully we can take that into the up-and-coming games. We can definitely beat them. Obviously we were 2-0 up when we went there last time before we let in two sloppy goals but if we can repeat that performance over two legs then we’ll make the final.”
Agyeman added: “Obviously the club has had back-to-back promotions before and now we’ve got a chance to make it a third. Not many teams have ever done that so it will be something for the record books.”
