GARY Smith, the Stevenage manager, believes striker Patrick Agyemang could be the man to propel his team into the League One play-off final at Wembley.
The Hertfordshire club host Sheffield United tomorrow in the first of two games set to decide who will battle Huddersfield Town or MK Dons for the right to compete in the Championship next term.
Agyemang, who started Stevenage’s 2-2 draw at Bramall Lane 12 days ago, has impressed since arriving on loan from Queens Park Rangers and Smith said: “Pat has come good at a great time for us.
“He looks his old self.
“He’s full of desire, strength and individualism.
“He’s a real lift for everyone when he gets on the ball.”
Stevenage, who finished sixth in the table, enter the semi-final first leg at The Lamex Stadium having taken 13 points from their previous five outings.
Third-placed United have mustered eight over the same period.
Smith, who has softened Stevenage’s confrontational style since taking charge in January, said: “We’ve tried to stick to what has been successful for us.”
