SHAUN Miller was granted permission to miss Sheffield United’s latest friendly because of a long-standing personal engagement, manager Danny Wilson has confirmed.
The striker, who joined United from Crewe Alexandra last month, was a notable absentee from the squad which beat Morecambe at the Globe Arena on Saturday.
But Wilson told The Star: “Shaun was at a wedding. It was his sister’s wedding in fact and we’ve known about it ever since he came in so there was absolutely no problem.
“It was an important family occasion and it’s only right he was there.”
Miller could return to action when United play the final public friendly of their summer schedule at Matlock Town tomorrow evening.
Wilson’s side host Burton Albion in the Capital One Cup first round this weekend before beginning the new League One campaign with a home fixture against Shrewsbury Town on August 18.
“Shaun’s been working hard since he came to us,” added Wilson. “We’re pleased to have him.”
