Nigel Worthington believes York City have signed an “exceptional” young talent after capturing Elliott Whitehouse on loan.
The Sheffield United midfielder, aged 19, will spend a month at Bootham Crescent before the arrangement is reviewed.
“Elliott is a young player who is developing at Sheffield United and when we’ve watched him play he’s done exceptionally well,” Worthington, the City manager, said. “So hopefully coming here he will gain some experience and do very well.
“Again, I am pleased to get him in to add more competition for places and hopefully he’ll fit in well and do well for us.”
City, who entertain Mansfield Town on Saturday, are 22nd in the League Two table.
Richard Cresswell, the former United centre-forward, joined them on a permanent basis during the close season.
