Kevin McDonald held talks with Wolverhampton Wanderers this morning after Sheffield United’s League One rivals submitted an official bid for the former Scotland under-21 international.
David Weir confirmed McDonald, aged 24, had travelled to the Black Country after being informed of the undisclosed offer.
“All of this is happening as I speak,” Weir told his weekly media briefing at the Redtooth Academy. “We are aware of the situation and we’ll have to see what develops.
“He’s down there. There are still some issues and he’s still our player. Kevin is still available to us.”
Weir acknowledged that losing McDonald “would be a blow” after his impressive pre-season displays culminated in him opening the scoring during last week’s victory over Notts County.
But he added: “We’ve got good players here. But, as I say, we’ll have to see what develops.”
