Sheffield United are hosting their latest ‘Friends of the Academy’ event next month as part of a pioneering project designed to share knowledge with clubs at grassroots level.
The workshop, which focuses on constructing effective coaching sessions for players aged between six and 14, takes place at Shirecliffe on Friday 14 April.
Teachers, parents and representatives of local clubs from across the region are all invited to take part.
Steve Williams, who attended the inaugural meeting, said: “It was a really interesting night. Importantly, I think we all left with the understanding that Sheffield United genuinely want to play a role in helping to develop local coaches and clubs and are passionate about giving something back to grassroots football.”
Places are limited and those interested in taking part should email: Joanne.Gambles@sufc.co.uk as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, United supporters will enjoy the opportunity to win a Ducati motorbike during Saturday’s match against Wolverhampton Wanderers as part of a new sponsorship deal with online fan engagement firm SHOUT.
The American company, whose investors include United co-owner Prince Abdullah bin Mosaad bin Abdulaziz al Saud and NBA star Deron Williams, will also award cash prizes as part of their ‘Ultimate Fan Challenge.’
The visit of Wolves marks the start of United’s 125th anniversary celebrations.
