Blades keeper George Long has joined Scottish Premiership outfit Motherwell on loan.

Long has moved to Fir Park until the end of May in the pursuit of first team football with Mark Howard the number one at Bramall Lane and Iain Turner in place as the lead understudy.

United boss Nigel Clough side said: “Hopefully this will prove to be a good move for George.

“We’ve consistently said that he would benefit from playing on a regular basis and we hope this will be the case at Motherwell.”

England U21 international Long made his Blades debut against Swansea at the end of the 2010/11 season as a 17-year-old.

The 21-year-old is in line for his Motherwell debut on Saturday against Ross County.
