SHEFFIELD UNITED: Family day kicks off United’s season

A FAMILY fun fay will provide the curtain-raiser to Sheffield United’s first competitive match of the new season.

Next month’s event, which includes attractions such a tour of the changing rooms and interactive quiz, takes place just hours before the Capital One Cup tie against Burton Albion on August 11. (kick-off 3pm).

United have announced they will be lowering ticket prices for the first-round clash with Gary Rowett’s side.

Organiser John Garrett said: “The Cherry Street car park will be a hive of activity with something for Blades fans of all ages to enjoy.

“It should be a great day and one which we hope will finish on a high as the players look to reach the next round of the tournament.”

Supporters will be able to view where, just hours later, members of Danny Wilson’s first team squad will prepare for the clash with Albion.

Entertainments firm Redtooth, who are sponsoring United’s away shirts next season, have pledged to organise a quiz while the official team coach from 1966 will be on show alongside the present version. Sheffield Classic Car Club and Sytner BMW have also pledged to organise exhibits.

Entry prices for the match are priced £10 (adults), £5 (concessions) and £1 for under-16s.

Top-flight teams, together with Bolton Wanderers and Blackburn Rovers of the Championship, enter the competition at the second-round stage.
