Diego De Girolamo has ended the uncertainty regarding his future by signing a new two year deal with the Blades
The 19-year-old is known to have endured a strained relationship with former United boss Nigel Clough and had informed the club late last season that he was looking to leave.
However, his mind has been changed after Clough was replaced with Nigel Adkins, who promised every member of his squad would have a chance to impress.
The Italy U20 international had loan spells with York City and Northampton Town last season but has his sights set on breaking into the United side on a regular basis this term.
He said: "I am keen to prove myself and hopefully if I do that it will lead to a number of first-team opportunities in the months ahead, that's my aim and I am going to work extremely hard to make it happen."
De Girolamo has made nine appearances for the Blades, scoring once in last season's FA Cup clash with Preston North End.
