SHEFFIELD United manager Danny Wilson says Ryan Flynn possesses the qualities required to become a huge hit at Bramall Lane.
Wilson was speaking after watching the young midfielder deliver his finest display in a United jersey against AFC Bournemouth three days ago.
Flynn, signed from Falkirk last summer, enjoyed a rare League One start after being asked to fill the void created by Stephen Quinn’s transfer to Hull City 24 hours earlier.
And he seized the opportunity in spectacular fashion by scoring two well-taken goals and creating another as United posed a 5-3 success.
Wilson said: “Ryan has shown out there exactly what he is capable of. He’s got the ability and attitude to make a big name for himself in this game.
“I’ve always maintained that because not only is he technically excellent but he’s also willing to learn.”
“Ryan was obviously under a bit of pressure out there because everyone knew what had happened (with Quinny) before,” Wilson added. “Would he have started if Stephen had still been here?
“I’ll let you lads (the media) answer that one but he took his chance didn’t he.”
United’s League One fixture against Portsmouth has been moved to Monday, October 29 (7.45pm) after being selected for live television broadcast.
United’s under-21 game against Huddersfield will now take place on Tuesday, September 4 after being moved at the West Yorkshire club’s request.
