CHRIS Morgan is “unlikely” to play for Sheffield United next season, manager Danny Wilson has confirmed.
The centre-half, who has not featured since sustaining a serious knee injury 20 months ago, is spending the close season undertaking a coaching course in Ireland after joining Wilson’s backroom staff last term.
Asked whether he expected Morgan to return to action, Wilson said: “That’s a decision for Morgs to make but personally I would think that it is highly unlikely.
“He’s doing his coaching badges, in Belfast, I think, at the moment which will ultimately be the future.
“Morgs will consider all his options but, either way, he’s still got a very big role here with us without a doubt.”
Morgan, aged 34, joined United from neighbours Barnsley in 2003.
He last appeared for the first team during a Championship fixture against Coventry City in October 2010 but guided United’s reserve team to the Central League Central Division title earlier this year.
