Shackling Fenerbahçe’s stable of international stars will prove a different prospect to tackling the likes of Rochdale, Swindon and Port Vale in League One.
But, according to centre-half Neill Collins, Sheffield United’s players should embrace the challenges posed by Ersun Yanal’s European stars.
“It’ll be a big test, of course,” Collins, pictured above, said. “But it’ll be a fantastic occasion, for everyone involved in the club.
“It may not be quite on the same scale but we’ve played against big clubs and big players before, the likes of Aston Villa in the FA Cup last season. So the lads have shown that they are more than capable of handling that.”
Manager Nigel Clough added:“It could be a cracker. We’ll try and juggle the team around and be competitive.
“But we don’t play Champions League-quality sides too often, thankfully!
“It’ll be a good experience for the youngsters, and it’s all a vital part of their progression.”
