Sheffield United: Chris Wilder allays fears over Ethan Ebanks-Landell injury

Chris Wilder, the Sheffield United manager, expects Ethan Ebanks-Landell to be fit for next week's home clash against Coventry after refusing to gamble on his fitness in the victory over Millwall on Tuesday night.

The on-loan Wolves defender was a noticeable absentee from the United teamsheet for the Millwall game, as United won 2-0 and went 13 points clear of third-placed Fleetwood Town in the race for promotion from League One.

“With Ethan, it was an issue with his ankle so we didn’t want to take a chance with his fitness,” Wilder revealed.

“But he’ll be fine for Coventry. We have a few bumps and bruises but overall, we’re healthy.”

Ebanks-Landell, aged 24, has made 32 appearances for United this season but signed a new, long-term contract at Molineux earlier this season. At the time, he said: “We [United] have got the goals in our head that we want to achieve and being top of the league obviously puts us in good stead to achieve them.

“The fans have taken to me well and the boys in the changing room have taken to me well. I’ve got a song and I’ve never had a song before so that’s a completely new experience.”
