Sheffield United coach Chris Morgan has challenged more members of his under-21 squad to make their senior debuts next season.
Otis Khan, Connor Dimaio and Louis Reed were all handed first team opportunities by Nigel Clough last term after impressing at Professional Development League level.
Morgan, who works closely with the United manager, said: “The gaffer and his staff watch as many games as possible, involving our youngsters, because we know how important they are to the future of this club.
“Connor, Otis and Louis have all had a taste of it know and they’ll undoubtedly want more.
“The other lads can see what is possible if you work hard and prove yourself.
“The gaffer has made no secret of the fact that if you are good enough you will play, regardless of size and age.”
Meanwhile, boys eligible to compete in the under-12, 13 and 14 age brackets have been invited to attend an open training session at the Redtooth Academy on May 27. Those interested in taking part should email email@example.com detailing their date of birth and a brief playing history before May 23.
Due to the limited number of places, not every applicant will be asked to take part but could be considered for similar programmes scheduled to run through the year.
