David Weir, the Sheffield United manager, was frustrated by some aspects of his team’s performance at Brentford last weekend, writes James Shield.

However, despite highlighting several areas where “improvement is required,” he expressed no such concerns about their character.

Weir, speaking ahead of Saturday’s League One fixture against Colchester, said: “I thought we demonstrated a really good attitude and desire to get back on level terms.

“It’s obvious there were areas where we should have done much better. But determination-wise, I thought the lads showed a lot of fight.”

Neill Collins scored United’s equaliser against Uwe Rosler’s side before two goals from Will Grigg condemned the visitors to a 3-1 defeat.

Meanwhile, Weir’s squad will hold an open training session at Bramall Lane on Tuesday 27 August. The event, which starts at 11.15am, is exclusively for season ticket holders and Junior Blades members.
